As a Scientist

In order for you to automatically be registered to receive regular information about bioGENESIS and more broadly DIVERSITAS as well as the DIVERSITAS electronic newsletter please complete the DIVERSITAS Personal Profile (on-line soon). Feel free to also contact directly the co-Chairs and Science Officers of bioGENESIS.

As a Funder

DIVERSITAS is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, funded by regular contributions from its National Members, and by grants from various organisations. These funds are used to support the DIVERSITAS activities including the bioGENESIS ones. In order to achieve the short- and long-term objectives of bioGENESIS, it is actively seeking additional support for the following:

• Scientific activities ;
• International Project Office activities;
• Capacity building activities.

Funding bioGENESIS initiatives allows individuals, private industry, non-governmental/inter-governmental organizations, foundations, and associations to demonstrate a strong commitment - to their own stakeholders and public - to sustainable use and conserve biodiversity. We invite you to contact us directly regarding opportunities for collaboration and co-funding.

The nature of many bioGENESIS activities is such that even small contributions can make a big difference. For instance, relatively small sums can make it possible for developing nation scientists to participate in regional or international efforts that would normally be beyond that country’s means. The broadest possible participation is critical to our aim of understanding biodiversity change and loss at the global scale.

Scientific activities

bioGENESIS maintains a list of activities to be undertaken within the next two to five years. Individuals or organisations interested in providing funds or help for these events are invited to contact the bioGENESIS IPO.

International Project Office activities

All bioGENESIS activities are managed by an International Project Office (IPO) operating on a very tight budget. Donations to the bioGENESIS IPO is important to help us allocating adequate resources to the following tasks:

• Coordinate a worldwide effort to produce an international framework for evolutionary biodiversity research;
• Engage scientists, particularly from developing countries, in scientific networks and collaborative research;
• Holding thematic workshops and symposia;
• Communicate bioGENESIS activities to the scientific community and other stakeholders;
• Raise funds for the full range of our activities; and
• Participate in international biodiversity conferences.

Capacity building activities

bioGENESIS is committed to engaging scientists from all regions of the world in its activities, and therefore soliciting external support to support participation of these scientists in workshops and symposia. In addition, bioGENESIS develops activities toward training young researchers from developing countries. If you would like to support a young or a developing country scientist, or support training activities, please contact the bioGENESIS IPO.
